Some of them stopped overnight and that brought me full circle to Debian. Red Hat was really good, while it lasted....

i install fedora 39 with gnome 45 and for the first time in my life time a distro linux ..install everithing auto .. i mean... my camera and micro works .. my printer and scaner works.. i was amazed .. no need to apt get install anymore.. i start with linux open suze 24 yrs ago... debians.. ubuntus.. etc etc etc one day i just give up and to be honest i dont know how to apt get install anymore ... im sick of windows 11 and all the telemetry and programs pre installed that i dont use.. and office for personal user now is payed.. i mean? camon!!! i also have been hacked in a windows 11.. with some backdoor or something like that.. so i use fedora 39 with gnome 45 .. and i dont think to install another one so soon .. i just need to install dock to dash .. and the only thing i miss is the minimize option ... but everithing works and is free ... i was amazed by the work of fedora.. im thinking in donate some to the team i think for the first time they did a linux that really works !!! out of the box .. congrats !! i use adobe wen i work as designer... the company pay the adobe cs premium to have all tools .. i do some art works in my week ends and i use gimp... and my paint .. and also libre office to update my CV nothing else.. my actual work is all day in a chrome OS with is a mix of linux and android .. so fedora 39 with gnome 45 and a dash to dock its perfect for me!!! for my weekend works .. and at night to visit some pages.. i do have a windows computer with windows 11 original .. but like i told before i was haked in the version beta of windows 11 and i just hate it .. i dont have nothing to hide but just to know that an assole see my stuff ...he was a total jerk .. he ask me 1800 dolars in bitcoins... loool lucky me that i live in the poorest country of europe in portugal.. even if i want i dont have that amount month.. im not british or german to have more than 5k month .. with luky i have 800 euros and wen i pay bills in the end of the month im wirh zero euros !!!! so .. i know he was a bad hacker .. he didnt search for my bank account .. if he does probalbly makes me a donation lol.. he told me that if i dont pay him 1800 dollars in bitcoin that he gona put all my stuff in my disk most art works and personal pictures in the dark web and i told him go ahead assole !!! a good hacker .. its in silence .. and have like 10.000 backdors maybe more and all month tehy take a euro for person .. so people dont waste money in gasoline and time to go to the bank because of a euro or a dolar miss in one month... i know a german woman that is haker .. she actually lives in thailand in a resort with good clime and good food ... and she live doing that .. she have thousends of bank accounts and all month she take pennys and all toguether pay all bills in thailand in a 5 star resort with food included .. so she doesnt work .. i know her 10 yrs ago.. and she dont waste time blackmailing people .. she is silent ... so i think is the only hacker that i really know in my life and is a woman not a man.. this assole that dupilicate my works and pictures must be a kid.. any way i didnt like it and im done with windows .. i only use windows if i really need to used for something . but is not my work computer.. as i say i work with chrome OS .. and i use linux in the weekends to do my art works .. i also was amazed that fedora 39 even the bluethot of my samsung phone works !!! so im very happy with fedora 39 .. i dont like KDE reminds me windows LOL .. :D

Linux is a fragmented mess. On windows i just use choco/winget.

I’ve had to abandon all forms of Arch Linux on my computers. Every version of Arch on any of my computers always devolves into broken keyrings at some point. Yes I’ve tried the key --init things. Always get (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature)). Only happens with Arch.

It is because there are already too many Toyota fanboys, so some zealots need a different idol to worship. I used Arch for years and it stipidly always eventually broke after updates, same as Windows. At least my Debian based distros never let me down. Arch only is for people who cannot configure Debian.

The Chaotic AUR is used by Garuda, with a very popular distro using it, it makes sense that the packages are curated and made to be sure the packages install correctly

This is a very risky repo since you can't verify a compiled package. You should also inform us about security issues with external repo and how to make sure they are trusted

Has less to do with laziness and more with precious time. Often you need something right this instant to get work done and if it's not in the repos that means compiling, and even more compiling if it's a large gui app with additional toolkits that also need compiling. And then you'll need to recompile for every new release or git commit if there's only a -git package. I just don't see the point if somebody as large as Chaotic have proven themselves.

Ubuntu on a dell R720 runs great, it also opened HDD's that Windows thought was broke, saving some old images for me.

What i have just come to know about these software fights, they are just useless, just use the right tool for the right job other than trying hard to use one tool where it cant deliver a great job and also what matter is how easy it is doing a job with the right tool. 1. U want a server - Linux 2. Day to day use - use what u know, where u don't need to search for something to use. 3. Games - windows or Linux. But a console can do it better. 4. Programming/hacking - Linux or windows i don't know man, do u. Flashing phone - windows/Linux whatever Just use the right tool that's all. And depending with your budget too. Otherwise peace. I USE ARCH BTW😅😂🎉.

Yes! This what I wanted. I have always been tired of even compiling as small as a font and taking it several minutes to compile, taking my resources and then generating a lot of bloat such as dependencies and source files. I absolutely hated doing that, but if this is as same as installing a package from pacman, I would be really interested in trying to. Thanks for showing this to us. But I wonder how often are the packages updated?
